Surprisingly, Gmail’s read receipt function is in the testing phase and also tends to only support certain Gmail accounts. Fortunately, there are few extensions capable of delivering more reliable Gmail read receipts than the native option. Especially with Shift, these extensions will automatically be applied across ALL of your Gmail accounts—you just need to choose which one!
Boomerang
1. Launch Shift, and click on the wrench icon to enter the “settings”
2. Head over to the “extensions” tab
3. Enable Boomerang by using the toggle button
4. Go to “compose” or “reply” a new mail
5. Click on the blue envelope with a question mark icon to request a read receipt
Gmelius
1. Launch Shift, and click on the wrench icon to enter the “settings”
2. Head over to the “extensions” tab
3. Enable Gmelius by using the toggle button
4. Go to “compose” or “reply” a new mail
5. Click on the blue checkmarks icon beside the “send” button
6. Enable “track all emails by default” and/or “track this email”
Mailtrack
1. Launch Shift, and click on the wrench icon to enter the “settings”
2. Head over to the “extensions” tab
3. Enable Mailtrack by using the toggle button
4. Go to “compose” or “reply” a new mail
5. Click on the green checkmarks icon beside the “send” button
6. Make sure the toggle button is green and indicates “on”
Keep in mind, these extensions do more than just provide Gmail read receipts. Other useful functions such as scheduling, snoozing emails, and link tracking are also benefits of using Gmail extensions. Download Shift and add your Gmail address(es) to give the extensions a try!
